Jules has met with the group that is in
charge of all Charlotte County Charities in
order to get a feel about giving bikes and
helmets to needy children at Christmas
time. Discussion was had on the liability
and it was established that the bikes and
helmets will go to the agency who will pick
the candidate and their parents – so
liability will not be an issue. Jules will
find out what agency in specific will handle
the distribution.
Bylaws were discussed and we will have a
yearly review of the Bylaws.
Gary Bryant suggested that it would be nice
for PR for the Club if we had volunteers
clean up a mile of two of road in the
county. Jules will call the Department of
Transportation and check out what needs to
be done.
JERSEYS:
Robyn would like to ask at the October
meeting what the club would like to do about
the jerseys? Green? Yellow? New
color? It would be beneficial to the
Club if we took orders and pre-pay for the
jerseys instead of just ordering a complete
order of all different sizes and have so
many jerseys left over. Robyn will check
into ordering maybe from Performance.
PROGRAMS:
Jules will be in charge of programs for the
meetings and already has Connie and
Christian speaking at the November meeting
about their trip to the tour de France.
CLUB
RIDES:
Having a lengthy Club Ride each month was
discussed and Robyn will talk to Wanda about
such rides.
Also, time for the summer rides was
discussed and it should be up to the ride
leader what time they want to start. It
was mentioned that the time should be after
each ride in the Newsletter instead of at
the top. Many phone calls came in asking
about times – this should alleviate any
confusion.
ADVOCACY
COMMITTEE:
We will be looking for volunteers to be part
of an Advocacy Committee to attend the
Monthly Board meetings in Sarasota and North
Port.
RIDE
WAIVER:
It was discussed that each new person should
get one free ride and at that time given a
club membership form to fill out, if they
plan on riding again. It states in the
Insurance Policy that waivers are for a one
time ride only.
MEETING:
Robyn would like a meeting with the
Executive Board and the Ride Coordinators
and Committee Chair People so they can give
an overview of the progress they have done
for the specific duties they are
performing.
INCORPORATING
THE CLUB:
Robyn will look into the pros and cons for
the Coastal Cruisers Bike Club to
incorporate.
Jim Cottingham proposed that we should set
up a “Yes or No” survey vote on the e-mail
with various issues and topics that arise.
That way if it went out to the “Club
Members”, more people will have a chance to
express their opinion. Jim will contact
Sally to discuss.
Respectfully submitted,
Pat O’Hearn
Secretary, Coastal Cruisers Bike Club
